Polygamy and the church

Recently an editorial was published in the New York Times comparing early Mormon plural marriage practices to the FLDS. It was an unfavorable article. Elder Jensen (the Church Historian) published this article in response. I thought it was interesting and that you might like to read it. Elder Jensen refers to the early women of the Church and their political activity. I think it is interesting to note that not only were they active, but Mormon women were the first in the Nation to hold political offices (City Mayors, and council women), and the first to receive the right to vote.

Team Astana Gets Last Minute Invite to the Giro

With less than a week before the start of the Giro, the organizers reconsidered their decision to not invite Astana to the Giro. Astana was officially invited on Sunday and will participate in the Giro. Andreas Kloden will likely lead the team after showing good form by winning the Tour of Romandie on Sunday. Alberto Contador and Levi Leipheimer will be a strong support for Kloden. It will be challenging since the team has not prepared specifically for the Giro. Contador was in the middle of a vacation (and surgery on a tooth) after a hard Spring campaign when he received the call, and Levi is still currently in the U.S. after just completing the Tour of Georgia. Both will make the trip to Italy to be on the starting line. Go Astana!!!

After a few weeks of good competition and almost identical web traffic stats, THEHADLEY.COM has emerged victorious and become the more popular site. With an average of 5 more pages viewed per visit, almost 4 more minutes of viewing time per visit, and more overall visits to the site, THEHADLEY is the clear winner.

What's popular:
Most popular section: Recipes
Most popular individual page: Lexie Video
Most page views: Photo Gallery

It appears all the work that has been put into the new sections of the site seem to be paying off and enjoyed by all.

It was made official yesterday.. Lexie is the new Assistant Manager at Poncho and Lefty's Mexican restaurant. Not too bad, considering she has only been working there for about a month and a half.

I just wanted to thank everyone for making my birthday special. We had a great dutch oven dinner prepared by Mom and cooked by Dad (George helped cook) and a nice hike at Red Cliffs. Then my friend called from Iraq and then Steve and Jenn took me to dinner. Then we had strawberry pie at work. What more could I ask for?

Lexie and I ventured on a journey down to Mesquite this last weekend to see if we could compete in the highly competitive world of professional BINGO.

After the anguish of trying to compete with this room full of superb athletes we emerged victorious and were awarded this spectacular prize of a George Foreman Indoor/Outdoor Patio Grill.

Now we just need some good Grillin' recipes.. If only there was a website out there where people could post all of their favorite Grillin' recipes for us to try.

GW, I remembered that you said thinking of penguins sliding on the ice always makes you smile, and since you haven't been feeling well lately I thought you could use a smile. These penguins aren't really sliding on the ice, but I thought it might still bring a smile.

Moving The Boards

For years now we've given Pa a lot of crap about making us move and re-stack boards all over the yard when we were kids. For the most part, he deserved this. Because seriously, how many different places in the yard do you need to stack boards? However, I have recently been able to apply my board stacking skills. As I've disassembled my broken fence I have made some really nice stacks of boards. When I drive down the street I see that other people have just thrown their boards into piles. Not me, I've got the best stacks of boards in the neighborhood. I'll probably have Jenn move them to another place in the yard next Saturday for no apparent reason.

Photoshop Express - Online Version of Photoshop

This is for all of you that want to make quick and easy edits to photos. **cough - Mom / Lori** It is basically a very simple to use version of Photoshop. It does most of the work for you. Each setting gives you a few thumbnails to choose from and then you pick the one you like best and it does all the work. Also, an added bonus is that it interfaces with other sites such as Google Picasa, so if you have photos in there you can import them to Photoshop Express to do your edits.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention, this is all completely (and legally) FREE.

RSS Section Added To The Site

I have built a new RSS Feed section for the site. It is still new and I will continue to work on it. I put it up so people could enjoy it and have an easy place to keep track of all their RSS Feeds. Feel free to add your favorites to the site so others can enjoy them too.

For those of you unfamiliar with RSS, it stands for Really Simple Syndication. Basically what it does is go to your favorite websites and grab the latest content. Then you can display it all in one spot to make it easy to find the new stuff you want to go look at.
